At the age of eight, Henry got a close up of the world as there were never any holds barred.
Henry’s mom stood there with a knife in her hand saying what his dad would and would not do. She attacked him and he assaulted the weapon. He punched the knife. He knocked the knife into the next zip code. Did she stop? No, she got bolder. She should have gotten a clue from the glazed look in his eyes. Henry did, even though he had never seen that look; he knew something had changed.
When his dad did not obey her as he normally would have, she should have known that something had changed. She attacked him like he was the antichrist and her job was to prevent his arrival. She wanted to kill him for daring to punch the knife, for daring to resist her will.
He had the presence of mind to run for the door. She blocked the door, and with no way out and his mind racing, his dad’s mind snapped.
These were the building blocks that forged Henry’s psyche. These were what made him both an unstoppable force and an immovable object under the worst of circumstances.

Harold Brown is a native New Yorker who grew up in the Bronx, Manhattan and Freeport, Long Island. He currently lives in Northern California. He loves the outdoors and loves to travel and interact with new people. He is fluent in both English and Spanish. His hobbies include music, playing the guitar, piano and singing.

If I Don't Lose Momentum Emotionally engaging story from the first page, intriging as I turned and read each page, I didn't want to put this book down. Wanted to know what was going to happen in Henry Black's life next. The book is well written, I felt that I was there in each moment as Henry Black's life story unfolded. As the author wrote about Henry Black's life, relationships, experiences, challenges, successes as an adult he would then take you back to a time he was a young boy. The relationship he had with his mother, the abuse, the family dysfunction and how those life experiences molded and influenced him. Love, love, love reading a book or watching a movie where the story goes back and forth, almost as flashbacks, and integrates into what is going on in the story then and there. This book is a great read, suspenseful, dramatic, with twists and turns, and unbelievably based on a true story. This book tells the story of Henry Black's life. I want to tell you and describe specifically what is in the book but you would not experience the same intrigue, suspense like I did when I read the book. I will say that Henry Black's life's story, although he lived through as he said 'the worst of circumstances", it is also an inspiring story of his unrelenting drive towards success. The author brings you into Henry Blacks life, and through all the ups and downs in his life I was rooting for him to succeed. Did he? Gotta read the book! Best book I have read in a very, very long time.
